Femodette contains gestodene and ethinylestradiol which together act to prevent pregnancy. It inhibits ovulation, thickens the cervical mucus to stop sperm from entering and alters the womb lining so fertilised eggs are less likely to implant.
Gestodene, ethinylestradiol, lactose, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, sucrose, macrogol 6000, calcium carbonate, talc, montan glycol wax.
How to take
One tablet should be taken at the same time each day for 21 days, then none should be taken for 7 days, before starting the next blister strip of tablets.
There is an increased risk of blood clots and cancers while taking this medication, if patients see signs of these they must immediately contact their GP. Stomach ache, mood swings and feeling sick are some of the possible side effects with Femodette.
