Norethisterone acetate and ethinylestradiol are combined in Loestrin 30 tablets to prevent pregnancy. They inhibit sperm entering the womb, prevent an egg being released and thin the womb lining to stop a fertile egg implanting.
Norethisterone acetate, ethinylestradiol, sucrose, lactose, maize starch, talc, spray-dried acacia, magnesium stearate and the colourings quinoline yellow and patent blue V.
Tablet coating: hypromellose 15, hydroxypropylcellulose, carnauba wax, quinoline yellow, sunset yellow FCF, indigo carmine, brilliant blue FCF and titanium dioxide.
How to take
One Loestrin 30 tablet should be taken (at the same time) daily for 21 days, then after a 7 day period of no tablets, the next strip of tablets can be started.
If any signs of a blood clot arise, patients should immediately contact their GP, due to increased risk while on this medication. Dizziness, low mood and breast pains are all possible effects that can occur.
