Malarone is an antimalarial, that acts by killing the parasite that enters the bloodstream when a mosquito bites the skin.
Atovaquone, proguanil, poloxamer 188, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, povidone K30, sodium starch glycollate, magnesium stearate
Coating: hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171), iron oxide red (E172), macrogol 400 and polyethylene glycol 8000.
How to take
Malarone should be taken daily, one to two days before travelling to a malaria risk area, and then continuing until after 7 days in a laria-free zone. It should be taken with food or a milky drink, at the same time every day.
Rash, wheezing, swollen face, skin irritations, vomiting and diarrhoea are some of the effects that some patients have had.
