Product description
A combination of levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol makes up Microgynon 30 ED tablets. They are used to prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation, making the cervix mucus thicker to prevent sperm from entering the womb, and preventing the womb lining thickening to stop egg implantation.
Ingredients
Levonorgestrel, ethinylestradiol, lactose, maize starch, povidone, magnesium stearate, sucrose, macrogol 6000, calcium carbonate, talc, montan glycol wax, titanium dioxide, glycerin, ferric oxide pigment yellow.
How to take
Each blister strip contains 21 active tablets and 7 larger inactive tablets; one of the active tablets should be taken daily for 21 days, followed by one daily of the inactive tablets for 7 days, then a new blister strip should be started.
Side effects
An increased risk of blood clots can occur when taking this medicine, if any signs occur patients should contact their GP. Nausea, headaches and painful breasts are some of the possible side effects associated with Microgynon 30 ED.
