Qvar Aerosol contains a corticosteroid, belcometasone dipropionate, to prevent breathlessness in asthmatics. It works by reducing inflammation within the lungs, when used regularly.
Belcometasone dipropionate, HFA-134a (norflurane) and ethanol.
Time to take effect
The inhaler must be used regularly and can take a few days to work.
How to take
Qvar aerosol must be used as directed be the GP; generally once to twice daily. It should not be used to relieve sudden breathlessness.
Thrush of the mouth has been reported, as well as a sore throat, both these symptoms can be reduced by rinsing the mouth after use. Allergic reactions, abdominal pain, weakness or vomiting can also occur.
